Police in Paris are searching for four suspected thieves after a bold robbery at the famous Louvre Museum. The criminals stole eight priceless items of jewellery, including some of the French crown jewels. The robbery happened in the morning, shortly after the museum opened. Investigators reported that the thieves used a crane or a mechanical ladder to reach a window on an upper floor. After smashing the window, they broke into two display cases inside the Apollo Gallery. The entire operation was incredibly fast, lasting only about four minutes. The thieves then escaped on motorbikes before security could catch them. An expert, who used to work for the FBI’s art crime team, described the thieves as professionals who planned their crime carefully. He noted that it will be very difficult for them to sell the stolen items because they are too famous and recognizable. The police have recovered one of the stolen items and continue their investigation.
