Ireland is experiencing a severe housing shortage, with the capital, Dublin, being the most affected. High rents are making it impossible for many people to find an affordable place to live. The story follows Jonathan, Jordan, and their baby, Delilah, who are homeless. After Jonathan lost his job as a crane operator and was diagnosed with diabetes, the family lost their apartment. Now, they are forced to rely on the kindness of friends and relatives for a place to sleep each night, a practice known as ‘sofa surfing.’ Their situation is stressful and uncertain. The family’s car is their only private space during the day. This crisis affects many people. Justin, a social worker, also became homeless after the emergency shelter where he worked and lived was sold. He has moved 25 times in the last 10 years. The lack of affordable housing and government support creates a difficult cycle for thousands of people across the country.
