This news worries farmers in Brazil. Brazil sells a lot of soybeans to China. If China buys from the US, it might buy less from Brazil. This could be a problem for Brazil’s economy.
An expert says it is not a simple change. China needs a very large amount of soybeans. Brazil and another country, Argentina, cannot produce enough for China alone. Also, the US and Brazil harvest their soybeans at different times of the year. So, China needs to buy from both.
The expert also talked about corn. The US has a lot of corn this year. But many people want to buy corn to make food and fuel for cars. For now, corn farmers are less worried than soy farmers.
