Political Crisis in Madagascar – Level 1

There is a big problem in Madagascar. The president left the country. He was afraid. Many young people are protesting in the streets. They are not happy with the government. They say there are no jobs and things are too expensive. An important army group joined the people who are protesting.
The president closed the government’s National Assembly. Now, no one is sure who is the leader of the country. Air France, a big airline, stopped its flights to Madagascar. This makes it hard for people to travel. The people wanted the president to answer their questions, but he left. The opposition wants to remove him from his job. The protests started because people wanted water and electricity. Now they want the president to leave his job so they can have a fresh start. Everyone is worried about what will happen next in the country.
